VANS TRIPLE CROWN | 2012 - 2015
The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing is a Hawaiian specialty series of professional surfing, offering three events on the North Shore of Oahu running from November 12th thru December 20th. During the two-month period the world of professional surfing descends upon a 7 mile stretch of the North Shore. The GoPro Media Team spends a significant time dishing out content everyday during VTC season. From in-comp highlights, post-show moments, lay-day shoots, big waves and beautiful sunsets - GoPro has produced hours upon hours of content through out the years. The subjects vary from the heartfelt moments to watching people (mostly surfers) just having fun doing what they love while out on the North Shore. For nearly 4 years the Board team has produced content making an impact on Social Media within the GoPro Network and WSL in-show Web/TV Broadcasts. The content is also used as GoPro marketing collateral and continues to keep GoPro relevant within the surfing community. Below are a few GoPro moments produced over the past 4 years while attending the event.
Role: Senior Producer
The short-from content that the team produces out on the North Shore varies in tone, but it’s really about this place, the people and surfing life on the North Shore. In addition, to all of these piece, GoPro spends some time to focus on a few longer form stories like Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau, This is JOB or Kelly Slater's 2013 Pipe Masters Championships that make the GoPro Network.
The GoPro Media Shack
The GoPro Media Shack was an idea to highlight what GoPro does well, empowering athletes with knowledge to help them improve GoPro products, execute better content, share on social media, and increase the stoke of the brand. For a rare two-month period the GoPro Board team not only works to fulfill deliverables for VTC and WSL, but they are on-call 24/7 for the surfing community to empower and learn. To do this, GoPro holds brand team meetings with sponsored surfers, meets with local schools interested in video production, hosts GoPro's Brand-live Twitter and Facebook chats, conducts weekly (casual) screenings with global media players and endemic press to educate and empower GoPro content. So if you think, this is a relaxing two months in Hawaii - make no mistake the GoPro Board team puts in some long editorial nights, heavy shoot and event days, experiences horrible internet connections, lots of explaining how things work and learns how to make improvements on the fly. Below are a few videos and links that can help you relate to the abundance of content coming out of the time GoPro spend while on the North Shore.

GoPro Talk Stories
The GoPro Talk Stories evolved out of the Media Shack and the need for more education on GoPro cameras & software. If you are out on The North Shore, it just makes sense to get some of the best surfers on the planet, show some of their amazing content and then talk about it. How did they get that shot? What settings did they use? How is GoPro changing, challenging or disrupting the surf world? Afterwards we host a party and have a few laughs. Link: The Inside Line -GoPro Talk Story

the SURFER POLL awards
The Surfer Poll Awards is the premiere awards event on the North Shore during Vans Triple Crown. A local, who prefers to remain nameless said, "The Surfer Poll Awards and Halloween are the only two events on the North Shore people actual dress up for." GoPro has played a big part in the awards over the past 3 years including a "GoPro Hero Award" given to the best non-professional surfer, whose capturing incredible surf content with their GoPro. What's great about this Award is that it gives a passionate surfer an opportunity to be recognized and be on the same stage with surfing’s elite professionals and brands.
